Keeping our children safe online
With the increased availability of internet-enabled devices, children are accessing technology and the internet at a younger age than ever before. It’s never too early to talk to your child about what they do online and whom to tell if they come across anything online that makes them feel worried, scared or sad.
Jessie & Friends is a series of three animations that follow the adventures of Jessie, Tia and Mo as they begin to navigate the online world, watching videos, sharing pictures and playing games. There’s also a storybook for each episode, to help you and your child keep the conversation going. These videos are aimed at children aged 4- 7 years olds.

The UK Safer Internet Centre has also released advice for parents about what to do if their child sees something upsetting online. The advice includes: information about tools which parents can use to block content on their child’s device; and information about organisations who can offer help and support to parents and children. Age restrictions for Social Media
We know that some children have Facebook, Instagram, and other social media profiles even though the permitted minimum age to use these sites is 13 years old, according to their terms and conditions.
We are committed to keeping our pupils safe and to promoting the safe, responsible use of the Internet. Age restrictions for social media websites are as follows:
Age limit: 13
Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Reddit, Snapchat, Youtube, Wechat, TikTok, Keek, Kik, Foursquare, Flickr
Age limit: 14
Age limit: 16
There are risks of underage use of such sites.
We work proactively to promote safe online behaviour, help pupils identify and avoid risky or negative behaviours online and encourage them to use social media responsibly as part of our PSHE curriculum.
